Residents of Mayanka at Konongo in the Ashanti Region, returned from church last Sunday to witness one of the ghastly human slaughters in recent times in the peaceful old town.
An envious boyfriend who feared be jilted by his girlfriend of 10 years because he had been exposed as a married man, severed the head of his girlfriend, Maame Adwoa Serwaa, with a carpenter’s saw.
Dreading the repercussions his heinous crime, Justice Kwame Anane, also known as Efo, a native of Nkawkaw. decided to cut his head with the same saw but could not muster the courage to do so.
Anane, who moulds cement blocks for a living and is aged 42, is now in the custody of the Konongo Police after being treated for his wounds.
Explaining the unfortunate incident to the Daily Graphic, a nephew of the deceased, Mr Isaac Asare, said Anane had been going out with his aunt for 10 years.
He added that recently his aunt realised that Anane was married and had children somewhere but had failed to disclose that information to her.
According to Isaac, Serwaa confronted Anane who could not offer any tangible excuse so she threatened to end the relationship.
Corroborating the story, Superintendent of Police, Mr Peter Ibrahim Sulley, the Konongo District Police Commander, said Anane had admitted the crime but blamed Satan for it.
