"I deserve to win Glo-CAF Award"- Asamoah Gyan

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan believes he is in a pole position to pick this year’s Glo-CAF Award slated Thursday January 8, 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria.

The highest paid Ghanaian footballer will face a stiffer opposition from reigning Ivorian king Yaya Toure, in-form Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and also Super Eagles captain Vincent Enyeama and compatriot Ahmed Musa.

Gyan had a successful 2014 campaign after netting two goals at the World Cup finals in Brazil to become Africa’s top scorer in the tournament with six goals and has overtaken Cameroonian legend Roger Milla who has five goals under his belt.

Gyan also won the UAE Arabian Gulf League goal king and the Asian Champions League top scorer award as well as the best foreign player in Asia.

According to the confident Gyan he is poised for the Award since his exploits this year supersedes his other four contenders.

“Every football fan in Africa knows how I have done my best for my country and my club. I qualified Ghana as a captain to a third consecutive World Cup and now the top scorer at a World Cup and have won everything with Al-Ain and therefore with the support from my countrymen and the Coaches on the continent this prize can’t elude me”. He said.

The winners will be decided by votes from the head coaches and technical directors of the national associations affiliated to CAF.
