Arsenal have been given the all-clear to seal the transfer of Barcelona youngster Sergi Samper for just £4.4million.

The Gunners look to be closing in on a deal for Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny, but Arsene Wenger is keen to add further signings in the middle of the park.

Arsenal are set to be without both Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla for much of the season and Samper could help to fill their boots.

According to the Daily Express, which cites Mundo Deportivo, Barca are ready to let the talented 20-year-old leave if their £4.4m asking price is met.

Arsenal have a history of poaching Barcelona’s best youngsters, with Cesc Fabregas and Hector Bellerin the biggest success stories.
