The Family Health Institute started in a garage at 51 Guggisberg Street, Korle Bu, Korle Gonno, Mamprobi in 1997 as a diagnostic centre. It was later moved to Zoti road in a rented premises and now to its permanent location at Teshie, directly opposite the Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Training Centre. It is strategically located and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean with a cool breeze especially in the evening. 

Family Health Complex now comprises a Hospital, Nursing and Midwifery School and the newly established modern Medical School which has just started with admissions still in progress. The University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS) is the graduate Medical School of Ghana’s largest and Premier Public University, University of Ghana. Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is situated in Kumasi, a large town in the centre of Ghana. The medical school was established in 1975 and clinical teaching started at Komfo Anokye hospital in 1980. The first students graduated in 1982. It is the second public university established in the country as well as the second largest University in Ghana. The School has active undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that offer MPH and MSc degrees in health services planning and management, health education, and population and reproductive health.

The University of Allied Health Sciences in Ho, Volta Region



The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) is one of the youngest public universities in Ghana. It is located at Ho in the Volta Region of Ghana. Its operation started in September 2012, when the first batch of 154 students were admitted. It is very promising and commendable when it comes to the provision of both human and material resources to ensure proper training of the students.
