Ghanaians senior high schools are considered among the best in west Africa based on the result of the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).
We bring you the top ten based on the results National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ), popularly called "Brilla", which is the premier quiz competition for senior high schools in Ghana.
1. Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (Presec Legon)
Presec, which is based at Legon in Accra, has won the NSMQ five times. (1995, 2003, 2006, 2008 and 2009)
2. Prempeh College
Prempeh has the NSMQ three times. (1994, 1996 2015 and 2017). Notable alumni include Former President JA Kufour.
3. Mfantsipim School
They won the NSMQ in 1999 and 2014. Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary General, is an old student.
4. Achimota School
The school won the NSMQ in 1998 and 2004. Old students include Kwame Nkrumah, JJ Rawlimgs, Atta Mills and Edward Akufo-Addo.
5. Opoku Ware SHS
The school won the NSMQ in 1997 and 2002.
6. St. Peters SHS
The Nkwatia-based school won the competition in 2000 and 2005. Beatmaker-turn-rapper-turn-singer Magnom is an old student.
7. Pope John Senior School
The Koforidua-based school won the competition in 2001.
8. St. Augustine's College
The Cape Coast-based school won the competition in 2007.
9. Adisadel College
The Cape Coast-based school won the NSMQ in 2016.
10. St. Thomas Aquinas SHS
The school won in 2013.
