Asian Football Confederation Bans Asamoah Gyan For 2 Matches…Read why here

Al Ain captain Asamoah Gyan has been handed a rare two-match ban by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for a tackle on an opponent two months ago.

Gyan was slapped with the two-match ban following a sitting by the Disciplinary Committee of the AFC over the incident which occurred in September. The Asian Football Confederation reviewed the Ghana captain’s tackle on Mihai Pintilii of Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal during the Asian Champions League semi-finals.

He was sent off with 20 minutes left in the September 30 game.

The decision by the referee was disputed by the UAE club which resulted in the AFC seeking for the video before the decision was taken. The Ghana captain is noted for his discipline and his sending off came as a surprise to many.
