Kwadwo Asamoah makes 2013/14 Serie A team of the year

Kwadwo Asamoah has been named in the best XI for the 2013-2014 Italian Serie A campaign.

Clutching his crutches, the Ghanaian took the accolade awarded to him in Milan following votes from coaches and journalists.

The 26-year-old scored only two goals last season but his overall impact for Juventus was key in the retention of their crown.

“Thanks to everyone who believed in me. This is for you,” the player wrote on his official Facebook page.

Employed as a winger-back but originally a creative midfielder, he is out for up to four months after a knee surgery recently.

Juventus had more honour on the night after 35-year old Andrea Pirlo was voted best player for the season, while Antonio Conte, now coach of Italy, was given coach of the year.

2013-2014 SERIE BEST XI:

Gianluigi Buffon- Mehdi Benatia (Roma), Matteo Darmian (Torino), Andrea Barzagli (Juventus), Kwadwo Asamoah (Juventus), Paul Pogba (Juventus), Andrea Pirlo (Juventus), Arturo Vidal (Juventus), Ciro Immobile (Torino), Carlos Tevez (Juventus), Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli).
