Vodafone Icons winner picks up prizes, GHC100, 000, Nissan car and more


Vodafone Ghana has urged emerging Ghanaian music talents to strive to achieve excellence and to also take advantage of next year’s edition of the ‘Vodafone Icons’ platform to improve their careers.

Vodafone Icons is a platform created by Vodafone Ghana to cement its leadership position in music in the telecoms sector and to empower young talents. This year’s event reached its climax on November 26, 2014 with Christian Owusu, a promising entrepreneur, winning the ultimate prize of a GHC100, 000 recording deal with Universal Music and a Nissan Qashqai car.

Speaking at the official presentation ceremony at the headquarters of the company,Agnes Emefa-Essah, Marketing Director of Vodafone Ghana said:

“The Vodafone Icons event was borne out of a desire to live good on our brandpromise – Power to You – and to also cement our leadership position in the Ghanaian music space.

Just as we have seen our previous winners – RnM, Noella and Ryan – making greatstrides in this industry, we are even more convinced that Chris will take it to another level. Next year will also see a much improved event”.



Receiving the keys to the car, the 2014 winner Chris said:

“I am so excited and feel great for being the winner. I just cannot believe that l am actually driving home this car”.

Chris hinted that he would adopt Gospel music as his music genre whiles expressing his profound gratitude to Vodafone Ghana for the platform and empowerment given him to realise his dream.
