Talensi : "I won’t vote for myself” - Akua Donkor’s GFP candidate

Ahead of the Talensi by-election on Tuesday, the Ghana Freedom Party’s (GFP) Parliamentary candidate, Yaro Bameezina Philip has said he is likely not to vote for himself because his party has neglected him.

According to Yaro Bameezina Philip, his party’s founder, Akua Donkor has refused to financially support his campaign though he had gathered information that she has been given about GH¢30,000 for the campaign.

Speaking to Citi News, Mr Bameezina lamented, “everybody is campaigning but what Akua Donkor is doing is not the best. In the north here, you can’t do politics without pushing money.”

“They have given you the money, something like 300 million old cedis [GHc30,000] and you don’t want to give me a pesewa. Should I use my own money for the campaign? You were on your knees begging me to stand for you and now you don’t want to push money,” he alleged.

Mr Bameezina said “people have started calling me in-coming MP. Don’t be surprised I will not even vote for myself on that day because what she started yesterday I’m not happy with her and I want the whole world to know that this woman is not a correct woman. All the posters I did it myself. Going to Accra back and forth, I paid my own bills. And the youth are saying that they have given me the money, and I don’t want to spend it.”

Meanwhile, all the political parties including the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Decomcratic Congress (NDC) rounded up their rallies yesterday in Talensi.
