Rio 2016: Ghanaian swimmer Abeiku Jackson fails to qualify from heat

Abeiku Gyekye Jackson could not qualify to the next stage of the 50 meter freestyle swimming event at the Olympics. He made 24.30 sec in Heat 5 and placed 6th.

He is Ghana’s first male swimmer in the quadrennial multi-sport event. He was ranked 55th, beating 30 other participants. As in Kaya Forson's case, no one from Heat 5 qualified. Ghanaian judoka Szandra Szogedi is also out of the Olympics.

Boxer Abdul Omar will fight on Thursday, August 11. Argentine Alberto Melian  will be his opponent.
