Berekum Police arrest Rashida ‘Black Beauty’ over viral video

Sad twist to Rashida Mohammed's story. Rashida became popular after a video she made in 2016 insulting her ex-boyfriend went viral. Earlier this week, another viral and disturbing video surfaced and this has lead to her arrest by the Berekum Police. The video was met with various opinions by the general public. ‘Black Beauty’ was on Tuesday 25th July, 2017, invited by the Berekum Police for interrogation. According to Detective Chief Inspector Dapaa of the CID of the Berekum Police Service, per the Criminal Code of Ghana, publishing nde photos and videos constitute indecent exposure and is punishable by law. We can confirm that Rashida has been granted bail and is expected to report again tomorrow for further investigations.

University of Ghana, Legon releases 2017/2018 admission list

National Service Scheme apologizes to personnel for ‘military brutality’

The National Service Scheme has apologized to the graduates were beaten a military personnel at the LaDMA Annex on Monday It is said the incident was “regrettable”. The registration process for this year’s national service personnel turned chaotic when some military personnel moved in to maintain order. The presence of the military was necessitated by a long disorganized queue of prospective personnel. The officers reportedly used belts and batons on the personnel leaving at least two persons injured. One of the injured persons, a lady, is said to have been stuck on the head while a young man suffered injuries on knees from a strike by one of the uniformed personnel.

Ghana Revenue Authority shuts down GLO over unpaid taxes

Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has closed down telecommunications network Globacom Ghana (GLO) over unpaid taxes. Glo offices at the Industrial area and Spintex Road were force to close down this morning by a GRA task force. According to GRA, GLO has failed to pay 11, 884,396.89 million Ghana cedis in taxes.

WASSCE 2017: Navrongo student with 8As cannot go to university due to poverty

An intelligent young man, Akannae Ayine Ebenezer who is a science student of the Navrongo SHS in the Upper East managed to secure eight As in the recently-concluded WASSCE. Sadly, there's a possibility of him missing out on university education due to lack of funds. Ebenezer had A in all the subjects he sat for, including Physics, Core Maths, Elective Maths and Chemistry. Ebenezer has poor parents with mother reportedly washes people's clothes while his father does farming in Kumasi. Help this needy student by sharing his story.

Kofi Sarpong nominated for Best Female East Africa at AFRIMMA 2017

Nominee list for the 2017 AFRIMMAs was recently released and i noticed the Best Female East Africa category where Male Ghanaian Gospel musician SP Kofi Sarpong had been nominated. As if that's not enough, Ghanaian producer DJ Breezy who was nominated for the Music Producer of The Year had his nationality changed to Nigeria. I wonder what their excuse will be. Uber set to extend services to Kumasi by September 2017

Kumasi is the next city in Ghana to benefit from Uber services by close of the third quarter, this year, this is according to General Manger of Uber Sub-Saharan Africa, Alon Lits. Mr. Lits said that the introduction in the Ashanti Region would be complete by September 2017. The American multinational online transportation network has gained popularity since its inception in the Ghanaian transport space and is very well known for its reliability and affordability. According to the 2014 World Bank reports, mobile phone penetration exceeded 100% in Ghana, compared to 1% in 2000, an indication that Ghanaians are more inclined now to information technology-enabled services than they were previously. The Ridge Hospital will soon become the Greater Accra regional hospital, President John Mahama has said. This follows the progress of work done on the Ridge Hospital expansion project. The Ridge Hospital project involves the design, construction, procurement and installation of equipment for the rehabilitation of the hospital. The project is expected to be completed in 2016, and is being financed with a Government of Ghana mixed credit facility of US$250 million from Exim Bank and the HSBC Bank. Speaking at the launch of the book, “Accounting To The People” at the Banquet Hall- State House in Accra, President Mahama said "We assume that Korlebu is Greater Accra Regional Hospital. PHOTOS: University of Ghana Teaching Hospital 65% complete

The University of Ghana Teaching Hospital is 65% complete. This is according to the Deputy Health Minister, Dr. Victor Bampoe. . He said the 597 bed teaching hospital is scheduled to be completed within 24 months. The $217 million project is located on a 400 acre land behind the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research of the university. It is being funded by a loan facility agreement between the Government of Ghana and the Government of Israel.
