Venezuela's Administrative Service for Identification, Migration and Foreigners, known as SAIME, plans to accept bitcoin ( BTC ) as a new payment method for citizens seeking a Venezuelan passport. The information was  originally leaked  via a Reddit post on June 23. News of the update soon reached Twitter, with some Venezuelan users abroad confirming the information. The Ghana Health Service will continue to count recoveries and discharges for the novel coronavirus together despite concerns of observers who insist they should be kept apart. At a press briefing on Tuesday morning, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye said the current use of the term "discharge" would be more accurately described as a "clinical recovery." "Maybe the word discharge is what is causing confusion. It is a clinical recovery," he noted after a question on the matter. An aspirant in the just-ended New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary primaries at Assin North constituency has gone back for all the bicycles he donated to delegates after an embarrassing defeat. Eric Amankwa Blay had shared 250 bicycles to delegates prior to the election to each of the polling stations in the constituency. Although he campaigned vigorously across the length and breadth of the constituency, his performance was abysmal when the final results were announced on Saturday. He secured 44 votes as against the incumbent MP Abena Duruwa Mensah who polled 389 votes. Ghana’s COVID-19 recoveries have risen to 10,074 following the new discharge protocols. The review of discharge protocols covers patients who do not display symptoms of the virus and patients whose symptoms die down during treatment. For patients who are asymptomatic, they are being discharged 14 days after their initial positive test. For symptomatic patients, if they respond to treatment 14 days after testing positive, they are discharged after a further three days without symptoms. According to the government, the change in policy is in line with revised guidelines by the World Health Organisation (WHO). Following new discharge protocols, the service is now counting recoveries and discharges together. Initially, each infected person had a minimum of three tests. Henceforth, people who fail to wear face masks in public would be committing an offence that carries a prison sentence of four to 10 years or a fine of GH¢12,000 to GH¢60,000, or both. This was contained in a new Executive Instrument (E.I. 164) signed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on June 15, 2020, as part of measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID -19). Per E.I. 164, which was gazetted on Monday, June 15, which Graphic Online has seen, the mandatory wearing of face masks shall be in force for three months and shall apply to all parts of Ghana. Suspected thieves on Thursday allegedly broke into the office of  Nima police station and made away with some items. The intruders allegedly took away valuable items including laptops, printers, television sets, and other stationery. The uniforms of some officers who were hanging in the offices have been taken away by the bandits. The theft appears to have puzzled officers at the station who are yet to come to terms with circumstances under which the said thieves entered the fenced premises. No arrest has been made yet.

A bus driver and one passenger have been confirmed dead after two VIP buses crashed in the Eastern Region.  The two buses – headed from Accra to Kumasi to Accra- crashed when they attempted to carry out an overtaking at the Akyem-Adukrom stretch of the Asiakwa-Kyebi road.  According to the Kyebi MTTD Commander DSP Henry Agyemang, the main Bunso – Apedwa stretch of the Accra – Kumasi highway was closed to traffic on Wednesday morning following an accident on Tuesday evening involving a petrol tanker and an Opel Cardet at Asiakwa Junction which blocked the main road.  Police personnel diverted the main Kumasi-Accra road through to Kyebi in order to clear the previous accident and prevent another fatality on the road.
