Bice Osei Kuffour (Obour) retained as MUSIGA president


Incumbent president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice Osei Kuffour (Obour) has been reelected to lead the musicians body for the next four years.

Obour beat three other contenders, Gyedu Blay Ambolley and Appiah Dankwah (Appietus) at the MUSIGA congress in Koforidua in the Eastern region Saturday.

At the hotly contested elections, Obour polled 88 votes while Ambulley and Appietus had 22 and 18 votes respectively. Three votes were rejected.

For the First and Second Vice Presidency and Treasurer, Bessa Simons, Rev. Thomas Yawson and Samuel Kofi Agyemang went unopposed.

For the National Organiser position, Chizzy Wailer beat Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi. Chizzy polled 65 votes while Ras Appiah had 64.

In all, 133 delegates voted at this year's congress. The delegates included veteran musician Agya Koo Nimo, Alhaji Sidiku Buari and Diana Hopeson.
