Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II confirms he is a freemason

Freemasonry is publicly frowned upon in this part of the world so it is very rare for a public figure to openly declare his/her status in this lodge. However, things are changing and quite recently, ex president Kuffour released images in masonic clothes.

The Asantehene has also come out to talk about his status in the lodge. According to ghanacrusader.com, he said

“I am a proud Freemason and I confirm that the principles and tenets of Freemasonry that we are taught in the Lodge, especially in the areas of governance and accountability have always stood me in good stead in my daily functions as Asantehene,”. He said this at a book launch titled “The Freemasons; who we are; what we stand for and do; our relevance – An insider’s view.”

The Asantehene said, “indeed, Freemasonry is a way of life.” He, therefore, called on the general public to join the society with an open mind.

He added that he recommends the book that was launched to members and the general public alike.

“I recommend this book to every Freemason and to members of the general public.”

The event was hosted by the current Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Ghana, the Most Worshipful Kwadjo Adunkwa Butah.

The lodge has been in existence since the time of the building of King Solomon’s Temple about 4,000 years ago.
