#TheAnasEffect: CAF Disciplinary board suspends 10 Ghanaian referees

The decision was made on Saturday by the CAF Disciplinary board. “The following decisions were taken by the CAF Disciplinary board regarding the referees involved,” read the statement. The Ghanaian officials were filmed in a BBC investigative piece by Ghanaian journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas receiving monies to influence football games on June 6 this year. A statement issued and signed by the General Secretary of the association, Mr Joseph Ayita Mensah said: “All referees and assistant referees who appeared in the Anas exposé should not be appointed for any football match“. Anas sued for 20million cedis in damages by GFA's Sannie Daara

Director of Communications of the Ghana FA, Ibrahim Sannie Daara has sued Anas Aremeyaw Anas  for ‘falsely claiming that he made his colleague accept a bribe on his behalf’ and is demanding 20 million cedis in damages over the publication in a recent football documentary. Another lawsuit was filed at the High Court of Justice with Human Rights. He also claims Anas ‘violated the Applicant’s right to the privacy of his communication which is guaranteed by the Clause 2 of Article 16 of the Constitution’. His lawyers are Dominic Ayine – who is former deputy Attorney General of Ghana and Dr. Theodore Adimazoya – USA trained rising star in the legal field in the country.

Embattled President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi is in hot waters in an investigative piece by ace journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas. Nyantakyi in the exposé made secret revelations when he met Anas and his team who posed as the investors. In summary, Member of Parliament of Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong was mentioned as a potential shareholder of the company to be created by Nyantakyi and his cronies. "I know that the Chinese money is coming. It is about $2bn.I have spoken to Anthony Karbo," he said.
