The Ridge Hospital will soon become the Greater Accra regional hospital, President John Mahama has said. This follows the progress of work done on the Ridge Hospital expansion project. The Ridge Hospital project involves the design, construction, procurement and installation of equipment for the rehabilitation of the hospital. The project is expected to be completed in 2016, and is being financed with a Government of Ghana mixed credit facility of US$250 million from Exim Bank and the HSBC Bank. Speaking at the launch of the book, “Accounting To The People” at the Banquet Hall- State House in Accra, President Mahama said "We assume that Korlebu is Greater Accra Regional Hospital. The University of Ghana Teaching Hospital is 65% complete. This is according to the Deputy Health Minister, Dr. Victor Bampoe. . He said the 597 bed teaching hospital is scheduled to be completed within 24 months. The $217 million project is located on a 400 acre land behind the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research of the university. It is being funded by a loan facility agreement between the Government of Ghana and the Government of Israel.
